Colorado Dispensary Jobs

The goal of this class is to help you understand the cannabis industry and cannabis products, as well as help boost your resume and give you the knowledge you need to speak intelligently when you land that interview for an opening at a dispensary in the near future.

Ballot Amendment 20 was approved Nov. 7, 2000 by 54% of voters and became effective June 1, 2001. This removes state-level criminal penalties on the use, possession and cultivation of marijuana by patients who possess written documentation from their physician affirming that he or she suffers from a debilitating condition and advising that they “might benefit from the use of marijuana.” Approved Conditions: Cancer, glaucoma, HIV/AIDS positive, cachexia; severe pain; severe nausea; seizures, including those that are characteristic of epilepsy; or persistent muscle spasms, including those that are characteristic of multiple sclerosis.

It was amended on June 7, 2010 which provides a regulatory framework for dispensaries, including giving local communities the ability to ban or place sensible and much-needed controls on the operation, location and ownership of these establishments.

Since the enactment of Colorado Amendment 64 in November 2012, which allows recreational marijuana in colorado, adults aged 21 or older can grow up to six cannabis plants (with no more than half being mature flowering plants) privately in a locked space, legally possess all cannabis from the plants they grow (as long as it stays where it was grown),legally possess up to one ounce of cannabis while traveling, and give as a gift up to one ounce to other citizens 21 years of age or older. Consumption is permitted in a manner similar to alcohol, with equivalent offenses proscribed for driving. Consumption in public remains illegal. Amendment 64 also provides for licensing of cultivation facilities, product manufacturing facilities, testing facilities, and retail stores. Visitors and tourists in Colorado can use and purchase marijuana, but can not take it out of the state, and it is prohibited at Denver International Airport.

License(s) Required
To work in the Colorado Marijuana Industry you must have a MED Employee License. The fee for this license is $100.

Requirements & Application Process
Requirements: (1) Must be 21 years of age (2) Proof of Residency – CO Drivers License or CO ID (3) Application Fee – $100 (4) Must disclose felony information from past 3 years.

Background Check Requirements
You must include ALL felony arrests, charges, and convictions in the last 3 years (unless charge was prior to age 18 and was adjudicated as a juvenile), regardless of the outcome, even if the charges were dismissed or you were found not guilty. If you answered YES, explain in detail on pages 4 and 5 of the application, using additional sheets as necessary. For each FELONY offense for which you were arrested or charged, YOU MUST OBTAIN OFFICIAL DOCUMENTATION FROM THE COURT WHERE YOU APPEARED, SHOWING THE FINAL DISPOSITION (OUTCOME) OF YOUR CASE (FELONIES ONLY). This information will include whether you were found guilty or not guilty and the penalty (money fine, time in jail or prison, probation or deferred sentence). If you received a deferred judgment, a deferred sentence, or probation, your documentation must include the date that you were discharged or released from probation or other supervision.

At HempStaff, we believe they need to be trained since they are the product specialists whose main responsibility is to be an expert on all cannabis products. This person must be trained to work with patients and customers and help educate on how cannabis can alleviate some of their symptoms. Dispensary agents must be able suggest which products may work best and also how to use these products and what the appropriate dosages should be.

We are the ONLY Dispensary Training Course that employs someone with 4+ years of legal cannabis experience, including dispensary management experience, as our head trainer! We know the value of having our students be able to ask questions that only someone with this much experience can actually answer.

Please Note: DO NOT put ANY illegal experience on your resume for a job in the marijuana industry! Unless you have experience working in a dispensary, this training will be what you can put on your resume to let employers know you have the knowledge and ambition they are looking for when selecting candidates to interview.
