This is a Professional Training Course to teach you what you need to know about cannabis and your state’s Cannabis Laws so that you can apply to work in a Medical Marijuana Dispensary. You will be working with cardholders in this position and must understand the medication before you start assisting others. The material is presented in a fast paced, 4 hour course with a summary exam at the end to get your certificate of completion. The goal of this class to help you understand the industry and the medication which will help boost your resume with the knowledge you need to speak intelligently when you land that interview for an opening at a dispensary in the near future.
For those with no legal experience to put on a resume, training increases your chances of getting a job in the medical marijuana industry! On average, a Marijuana business owner gets over 200 resumes for every opening they post. With this training on your resume – you WILL stand out from the crowd!
In 2016, Oklahoma expanded its limited protection for patients who use low-THC, high-CBD cannabis oil for certain medical conditions, which was initially passed in 2015. HB 2835 will allow adults to use low-THC cannabis oil (minors were already covered by existing law) and will add “spasticity due to multiple sclerosis or due to paraplegia, intractable nausea and vomiting, and appetite stimulation with chronic wasting diseases” to the list of qualifying conditions, in addition to severe epilepsy.
Oklahoma State Question 788, the Medical Marijuana Legalization Initiative, was passed by Oklahoma voters on June 26, 2018! The Oklahoma State Department of Health will establish a special office funded by taxes on medical marijuana sales to oversee the program and create more specific regulations, like the number of dispensaries they will license.
Application information and requirements will be available online at OMMA.ok.gov by July 26th. They will start accepting applications on August 25th. We expect it to take a few months to go through the applications, depending on then number received, however we expect licenses to be announced in Fall 2018.
On July 10th several changes were made to the new law, including a ban on smokable cannabis and edibles. Many in Oklahoma were not happy with these changes along with the other regulations of a a 12% cap on THC in cannabis products sold, having the Dispensary Manager required to be a registered Pharmacist and mandating pregnancy tests for potential medical marijuana patients of child-bearing age. ALL these controversial laws were removed on the latest version of the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana law revised by health officials on July 27th.
Applications were accepted starting August 30th and several businesses have already been awarded licenses! Once the cultivation centers start growing, it usually takes 3-4 months to have product ready – so we expect sales to start in Oklahoma by year’s end.

Some states call it a Budtender, Dispensary Agent, Compassion Care Technician or Patient Liaison. No matter what the title is, the job description is the same – it is the person that works behind the counter of a medical marijuana dispensary and here at HempStaff, we believe they need to be trained. They are the product specialists whose main responsibility is to be a product specialist. This person must be trained to work with cardholders and help educate patients on how cannabis can alleviate some of their medical symptoms. Dispensary agents must be able to not only work with cardholders on the products that may work best but also how to use these products and what the appropriate dosages should be.
